“Both the world and Udo Udoma & Belo-Osagie have changed, almost beyond recognition, since I joined the firm 34 years ago. In 1990, the firm had two partners and 10 associates, and the crowning heights of our technology were our electric typewriters and a telex machine. The fax machine had not yet made its appearance (and what a piece of magic that was!), we did not have a single computer, the Internet had not yet been invented, there was no Google, and, of course, there was no Chat GPT. As the world changed, so did the firm.
The founders (wonderful and visionary people that they are) have retired and we now have 16 partners and 78 associates working across a wide range of practice groups. Many years ago the firm moved from the small house that we had converted into offices, to a purpose-built office where we occupy three floors, and have the very best technology at our disposal. There are other changes too numerous to mention that, over the years, have had the effect of making us a stronger and more capable firm that is better able to serve our clients.
I regard it as a singular honour to have been the Managing Partner and now Senior Partner of the firm, and my retirement next year is part of a further and welcome process of change. As the transition in leadership commences, I am confident that I will be leaving the firm in the hands of another generation of leaders who will take the firm to even greater heights. I am also confident that in doing so, the new leadership will continue the tradition of ensuring that our clients remain front and centre of the firm’s priorities.”
