We are pleased to announce that Udo Udoma & Belo-Osagie has been nominated for the Collaboration Award at this year’s TrustLaw Awards, a global recognition presented by the Thomson Reuters Foundations.
The TrustLaw Awards celebrate the exceptional pro bono work and impactful partnerships between legal teams and social change-makers within the TrustLaw Network globally.
The Collaboration Award, in particular, recognises outstanding teamwork between pro bono providers and recipients, highlighting how strong partnerships can drive meaningful legal and social outcomes.
This year’s nomination is for our work on the pro bono project: ‘Research on laws and case law on the rights of persons with disabilities to access Information and Communications Technologies (ICT) in Cameroon, Ghana, Nigeria, Rwanda, Senegal, South Africa, UK- England & Wales, Zambia, Zimbabwe’ (the “Project”).
Working with Collaboration on International ICT Policy for East and Southern Africa (“CIPESA”), UUBO coordinated the Project and contributed the Nigerian report.
The Project analysed legal frameworks on ICT accessibility for persons with disabilities (PWDs) and assessed their alignment with international standards, offering insights, identifying challenges and providing recommendations.
CIPESA is a non-profit and non-governmental organisation founded in 2004 that works to promote the inclusive and effective use of Information and Communications Technologies (“ICT”) for improved governance and livelihoods across Africa. Our joint effort supported their advocacy and capacity-building initiatives to strengthen the digital rights of PWDs across the continent.
This nomination reflects our firm’s deep commitment to pro bono work and our belief in the power of legal expertise to help build more inclusive, equitable communities. At UUBO, we remain committed to driving meaningful change through our pro bono efforts and contributing to positive social impact through UUBO pro bono!
