Udo Udoma & Belo-Osagie is honoured to have been nominated for the Trustlaw Collaboration Award, one of the awards to be presented at the 2022 Trustlaw Awards organised by the Thomson Reuters Foundation.
The Collaboration Award showcases highly effective working relationships between pro bono providers and recipients that exemplify the power and best practices of pro bono.
UUBO was nominated for its collaborative work with counsel in Uganda (Bowmans (Law Firm)) and Kenya (Cliffe Dekker Hofmeyr Inc (Kieti Law LLP)) on a comparative research report on anti-female genital mutilation/cutting laws in Western Nigeria, Kenya and Uganda for HACEY Health Initiative . The research project, in which UUBO acted as international coordinating counsel, focused on identifying the extant laws prohibiting female genital mutilation and its enablers, and how this reprehensible practice can be abolished.
The 2022 TrustLaw Awards will take place on June 8th 2022 in London and will celebrate remarkable pro bono projects undertaken by legal teams with NGOs and social enterprises around the world.
